I like to use ear plugs when I roll the kayak or when I am kayak surfing and there is a good chance that I might have to do a recovery roll or two in the waves. It's good to have these on hand on an expedition and to use them when conditions require, because you don't want the rick of getting an ear infection during the trip, which will be extremely uncomfortable and degrade the trip experience. The plugs from amazon do the job. I keep them in the front pocket of my life vest.
