I have a hand bilge pump inside the kayak cockpit tied under a bungee cord. My recommendation when selecting a bilge pump is that it should be long enough to be taller than the cockpit rim. For the Taran an 18-inch-tall bilge pump is just about the right length. The 12-inch is a little bit too short. The hose and clip that come with the pump are not very useful on a kayak. I've also wrapped by Bilge pump with velcro tape so that I can store it in the cockpit and not have it be loose in the kayak.
