I definitely liked these rain pants. they definitely keep you dry and you can wear them over your shorts. They do have a zipper close to the bottom for ventilation and it helps avoid getting your legs damp from sweating especially if you are hiking with them.
These pants are also very light, and pack very tightly in a compression sack.
